Working as an Independence & Wellbeing Apprentice, you will be part of the specialist team delivering support to groups of people who have experience multi disadvantage. You will spend time working across our portfolio of services to develop an in-depth knowledge of Independence & Wellbeing.

What you’ll be doing, over time and with training and the supervision of experienced colleagues…

  • Ensuring the responsibilities of the post are carried out in a way that reflects the standards, vision and values of Great Places
  • Supporting vulnerable people within temporary accommodation, or specialised housing schemes, or in their own homes
  • Develop a person centred approach and a strong ability to understand complex situations, with the knowledge base to access relevant support services. 
  • Develop an understanding of the ecosystem of statutory, voluntary and third party services that operate across the geographical footprint of our schemes and programmes
  • Contribute to learning and development of best practice in supporting vulnerable people
  • Support the continuous improvement of our services and the development of departmental strategy
  • Working within the Independence and Wellbeing framework, focussing on delivering our purpose and adhering to our principles.
  • Representing Great Places in a professional manner with integrity, inclusivity and respect for diversity
  • Treating customers and colleagues with respect and empathy
  • Working 35 hours per week and having a flexible approach to work

What you’ll need…

  • Curious, can-do attitude and a desire to make a difference 
  • Commitment to completing your apprenticeship and engaging with the Growing Greatness development programme 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Keen eye for detail and good organisational skills 
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above would be beneficial 
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) 
  • A clean UK driving licence and access to a car would be desirable 
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as using your own initiative and time management skills to deliver tasks on time 
  • Empathy for those who have been disadvantaged and who need help and support to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Commitment to understand the challenges and opportunities that exist in the communities in which we work. We particularly value lived experience in social housing 
  • Commitment to observe and comply with all policies / procedures / working practices / regulations and in particular Great Places Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Safeguarding Policy
